Roller Blinds

Roller Blinds are top or side fixed with a beaded side control to raise and lower. They are a good choice to minimise light loss and where direct sunlight can dazzle.

Good quality 100% cottons respond well to the stiffening required and are best suited to preparation for use in rollers: glazed cottons may be used but their sheen may diminish during the processing. Thick, bulky fabrics are not suitable for roller blinds. Tinsmiths offer two types of blind, processed blinds, backed to provide a blackout and standard roller blinds that use just the fabric supplied.

When measuring your drop, add 30cm to the total for turnings. If the fabric carries a check or other geometric pattern, please make sure that the pattern runs square to the fabric before ordering. For blinds requiring more than one width please allow for pattern repeat, if necessary.

To measure for Roller Blinds record the finished width and length and if fitting inside a window recess (FIG 1.), measure the width at several points (walls aren’t always straight), give the narrowest less 1cm for clearance.

If fitting outside the window recess (FIG 2.), add a margin all around (usually 10cm to the width and 15cm to the drop).
