Measuring

Roller Blinds and Roman Blinds

Measure the finished width and length and if fitting inside a window recess (FIG 1.), measure at several points, give the narrowest less 1cm for clearance. If fitting outside the window recess (FIG 2.) add a margin all around (usually 10cm to the width and 15cm to the drop).

Curtains

Curtains require the pole length measurement. It is a very good idea to put up your pole before setting about your order; this provides the width measurement (see FIG 3). We have a variety of Poles illustrated here.

Curtain Width

Depending on your choice of headings we will add the required width to give fullness - you can see how this translates into whole widths of fabric required on the ready reckoner on the prices page.

Curtain Length

Measure your curtain length in two parts. The first is the hook to hem measurement - the point at which the hook will attach to the curtain ring or eyelet to where you would like the curtain to end. The second is the heading measurement, this is the distance from the hook to where you want the top of your curtain to be.

For tracks, we suggest a heading height just above the top of your track so that it is not visible above the top of the curtain. For triple pleated heading, we suggest that this is below the pole by approx. 0.5cm to allow the curtain to fold back. For taped or pencil pleat headings, 1-5cm can be allowed according to preference.
